News from the Library: July 2017

You may have seen on the ‘Use Pontesbury Library’ Facebook page photos of all the new books here in the library – there have been quite a lot of brand new books as well as books circulating around the county.
We have a 3D lighthouse and flying seagulls! The books in this collection are all types of fiction, but relating to lighthouses and the sea.
July brings the school summer holidays and the launch of the Summer Reading Challenge. This year it is Animal Agents. Details can be found at animal-agents.org.uk. For those new to the SRC, it involves children reading six books over the summer, collecting gifts and stickers with a medal on completion. We will also be having a visit from the Dogs Trust. Alison will be bringing her dog into the library for a story time on Tuesday 15 August at 3.00 pm. So hope to see lots of you there.
As you know, we hold a regular once-a-month story and rhyme session for pre-school children, usually on the first Monday of the month. This month it will be on 3 July at 10.30 am. However, this will be Jill’s last one. We are very grateful to her for entertaining the tots for the last few months with stories and colouring. So, we are now looking for a new volunteer. If you have an hour to spare one Monday morning a month and would enjoy reading to a small group of young children, please pop into the library or email pontesbury.library@shropshire.gov.uk.
