News from the Library: October 2017

The first ‘Libraries Week’ will run from 9 to 14 October this year. This replaces National Libraries Day that used to be held in February. To launch the week Pontesbury Library will be holding an open morning on Saturday 7 October. Courtesy of the now famous catering arm of the Friends of Pontesbury Library there will be tea, coffee ,cake and a raffle. You will also get chance to see the almost magical draw of the Library Lottery. We love to showcase the diversity of the library, so if you have never visited before I am sure you will be surprised at all we have to offer. Most people, on their first visit, comment on how big it is and the amount of books and other facilities we have.
Following the great success of the children’s summer reading challenge events, plans are in progress for another event during October half term, keep an eye out for posters. We will also be starting a new Story Time session for pre-school children. We have a new team of volunteers who will be entertaining the children on the first Monday of the month. The first one will be 2 October from 10:30 to 11:15. This is also a chance to meet and chat with other parents, grandparents, carers and childminders. If you haven’t yet enrolled your little ones, come along and get them a library card. We have a large collection of picture books and baby board books for you to borrow.
